Made in China Mom

So….it’s been a while! I have probably started a dozen of posts with sentiments about it being so long since I blogged…and this post will start the same! Although, I will say that I have quite the good reason for it being so long. Introducing….my little cutie pie who is now 4 months old. To say that life has changed a lot since my last posting in September 2022 would be an understatement. Especially with my latest addition…it feels like I have lived many lives since he was born even! I am still very much living in Shanghai.

I thought I would link a post about living in Shanghai as an adoptee that I wrote for the lovely, Nanchang Project, titled “Reflections From a Chinese Adoptee Living in China.” I wrote the blog post before in October of 2024 before my life turned upside down and right side up all at the same time when I found out I was pregnant and then when my son was born. It fills in some of the blanks of my life the past few years and with the focus being on my adoptee identity and background.

When I think about it from a storyteller perspective, it is really special that I can say that my son and I were BOTH born in China. It’s very symbolic, poetic, ironic, transformative and all the words. I haven’t fully processed truly what a gift and full circle moment it really was.

When I first created this website/blog it was all about travel and adventure which was (and still is) a great passion in my life. Since September 2022 I have been to England (multiple times), Dubai, Hong Kong (multiple times), Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Korea, Japan and probably somewhere else that my “mom brain” has forgotten about in this moment. I hope to fill it more with my travels and updates of living life abroad mixed with some space about my recent identity as a mom. Stay tuned…I promise to update this space more often!
