“The adoption took time, the love came instantly”
Hey!
So I am a day late on this post…but it is better to celebrate late rather than never. Yesterday was world adoption day which means a lot to me and my family given that I was adopted from China.
Almost 21 years ago, the day after Thanksgiving, my Mom, aunt and cousin traveled all the way to China to adopt me and welcome me into the crazy Olson family. I was born in Yunnan, China and have gone back twice and can’t wait to go back again. Adoption is a very special event and touches so many lives around the world. For me, family is so important and becomes even more so the older I get (I say this at the ripe age of 22).
One of the blessing of being adopted is the way it transforms you into a global citizen and gives you more connection to the world.
We are like any other family and have our challenges and moments where there is scowling and glaring…but we all love each other a lot! My mom has done so many things for my (infinite) over the last 22 years and I am so grateful for that. It’s kinda the biggest sign of love when someone will travel thousands of miles to make you part of their family!
Here is a picture of me on the Great Wall in 2004 and 2008! Can’t wait to take my next picture ASAP!

I would love to hear any of your adoption stories!
