“I like it when it rains hard. It sounds like white noise everywhere, which is like silence but not empty.”

This book is timeless, for all ages and one of the most enchanting and endearing pieces of literature that I have read. I first read this book when I was fourteen and love revisiting in at different phases of my life. Each time I read it, I glean a different meaning, lesson and interpretation. Mark Haddon does such a beautiful job of telling an intimate story with candor and kindness that creates a book that you just don’t forget. The book is a first person account of a fifteen year old boy who has a form of Asperger Syndrome high-functioning autism and savant syndrome.  However, the book is not about a boy who has these learning disabilities; the book is about a family and a boy unraveling the mysteries of his world and an event that he experiences.

Let me know what you think of the book…it is one that I always suggest people of all ages (well perhaps not five  year olds) read and buy a copy to keep for life.
