Favorite Pastime: Cooking and Baking


I decided to add another page to my site/blog about only of my favourite topics in life! Food! Growing up with a grandma who made everything from scratch and a family that made sure I knew how to cook was such a blessing. There is something so special about being able to cook for other people and yourself. Not only does it taste better and is healthier, but it is very nurturing and a great way to relax and connect back to yourself and the world.

I have never understood people who eat to live and don’t live to eat.

I guess that there is a healthy balance between the two, but food is amazing! The myth that eating well is more expensive is so false. I plan on having a long, healthy life which means taking care of myself mentally and physically.

So here is to food. Lot’s of it.


I love having people over for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack and hearing about what they like to eat and joining forces to create a delicious meal! Last night one of my dear friends from high school came over for dinner and I knew just what to make her! We had bow tie pasta with pesto that was homemade and delivered to Boulder by my mother, sober sangria and a delicious new Brussel sprout recipe that I made up as I went. We brought our food up to the rooftop of my apartment and watched a phenomenal sunset as we talked life and ate a beautiful meal.

Nothing better than good friends and good food.

Below is the recipe for the roasted Brussel sprouts I made (The pesto recipe is a guarded family secret..not really…I just don’t remember it).


Roasted Apple, Onion and Brussel Sprouts.

(Super creative title)


1). However many brussell sprouts you want to eat

2). One apple (I prefer a red one)

3). Half a yellow onion (even though it looks white)


1). Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

2). Wash all the produce.

3). Cut the ends of the brussel sprouts and cut in a half

4). Cut the apple into small sections (Yes after you wash it…mother)

5). Cut the onion into slices

6). Toss the ingredients on the pan all togther and drizzle with olive oil

7). Toss with your hands and put in the oven for around 20 minutes, turning over the fun of veggetables and fruit every 5 minutes or until crispy.

8). Grab a friends who looks vegetables and enjoy!
