All the Laughs and Love

(Love my favorite cousin)

“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.”

There is a beautiful thing that happens when you live in the moment; spontaneous adventures tend to happen and the often stringent rhythm of life and schedules is free up and a feeling of complete joy rushes through your body. It’s a feeling that as an adult sometimes we forget to keep manifesting and creating. It seems to come naturally as a kid and as we get older its easy to forget how powerful, beautiful and inspiring letting can go. Not to mention the doors that it tends to open and the future that unfolds just because of little seeds that are planted and that grow into the moments where it feels like life is taking off and anything is possible.

(having a drink with three of my favorite family members…wonderful memory)

I have recently been reading the amazing book of author Glennon Doyle Melton. I originally found her because of her powerful TED talk about mental health and have continued to follower her on her life journey through her two books and other articles she has written, most recently an opt-ed for Time magazine about Mike Pence and his refusal to meet with woman unless his wife is present. One thing that I love about Glennon is how real she is. One of her slogans is that “we do hard things.” Life is not easy or a giant wish fulfilling factor without hard work, dedication, support, compassion and a million other things that when when combined create a beautiful life and those moments I was talking about. I was listening to an interview with Glennon and one thing that struck me was her idea of respecting the dream.

Respect the dream

That everyday we should be doing small things that contribute to our dream. And I really dislike the word “should” and say that people need to stop “shoulding on themselves.” However, in this case if you want something, this is how you get it. You work on the small steps moment by moment, day by day.

As I have been scheduling and planning the next steps in my life, I came to the realization that I am going to be busy for a year straight. And as much as I love that, that sense of purpose and next step, I want to remind myself to continue to be open to the little and big moments that give way to opportunities we never saw coming.

For now, I am going to enjoy the Colorado sunshine that is becoming more and more frequent as summer comes in!
