“If you want to be understood …Listen.”
Babel is a film that has an all-star cast and a director that gives the performance of a lifetime. Alejandro Gonzalez choreographs a beautiful dance around the world that brings four families in different countries all together in the most unusual circumstances.
She is one of those people who will never stop learning and evolving.
“You change your life by changing your heart.”
I haven’t done a type of this post as often as I would like to; however there is no better time to start than the present! Life lately has been fairly wonderful. I know I have said this before…but there is something about this time of the year that is so magical, but with that magic also comes a lot of change.
“Once you decide on your occupation… you must immerse yourself in your work. You have to fall in love with your work. Never complain about your job. You must dedicate your life to mastering your skill. That’s the secret of success and is the key to being regarded honorably.”
“I did what I did because I believe it is the right thing to do, and I will continue to do that”
They say that college students are getting younger and younger these days. Apparently they really are, to the point where humans who have only been on planet earth for three years are now attending astronomy lectures. I met Duncan, age three, when I went into my astronomy professors office hours to discuss an exam when he dropped by with his mom and proceeded to give me two cookies and a kiss before he left. Already such a lady-killer! The next day to my surprise, little Duncan and his massive personality showed up in my classroom where he proceeded to sit next to me the whole lecture. To be fair, I had fresh-baked cookies with me; turns out that friendship can indeed be bought. He was the epitome of a good student during class. He raised his and asked his papa (the professor) for more goldfish, told everyone his favorite planet was mars and shared with the whole class that he thought we got the answer wrong. This kid is going places. Before class, I asked Duncan if I could interview him and he said yes, if I gave him another cookie.
Looking back at everyday human interactions, imagine how many times we cast spells on each other with our word.
For those of you who know me, you know that I have always loved reading and now consider myself a certifiable bibliophile. As long as I can remember, there has always been a book with me from riding in the car to Wyoming and using a flashlight to read The Little House on the Prairie Series to spending my summer days biking to the library and checking out the maximum books allowed. I decided to add this page to my expanding site to talk about books I love and share some of the best that I think you all would enjoy and give you lots of food for thought!
The first book I am adding is The Four Agreements which is one of the most phenomenal books and I wish I could buy hundreds of copies and give them to everyone I know and come across in everyday life.
Hope you make some time to read this book! I strive not to make promises that I can’t keep, and I will promise you that this book will elevate your life and thoughts and hopefully change the way you think for the better!
This has always been one of my favourite times of the year since as long as I can remember. The excitement of a new year, almost more important than the January 1st celebration. It comes with reuniting with friends, new inspiration and a fresh start for everyone. I also know that eventually this cycle will end when I finish school (will that actually ever happen? I love school and learning so much, that regardless if I am in a classroom I will forever be curious and learning something new).
Like any good story, this one starts with a call to an Uber. I should end the story right there and let you do the math. However, this Uber story doesn’t involve alcohol, drama or a dateline story that ends in my death from climbing into a car with a stranger. As I recently turned twenty-one and have started the lengthy process of growing up and becoming an adult, I made a trip to the DMV to get my new license. This is where Alfie comes in as he was my driver that Uber gave me. I decided to turn the tables on my driver and had a great conversation for seven minutes while also making a new friend. What more could you ask for?
